Title:  Trainee Forge Hand Operative
Location: Sheffield, S35
Duration: Permanent
Hours: 40hrs p/w (4 days, Mon-Thurs)
Benefits:  Weekly Pay, 26.5 Days Paid Annual Leave (inclusive of bank holidays), Company Pension Scheme, Company sick pay, Paid lunch breaks & Free car parking

Pay: Starting wage £14.00 p/h

This rate will be incrementally raised to £15.50 p/h, then £16.50 p/h upon successful achievement of mutually agreed training goals, finishing at the rate of £17.50 p/h.

The Role:
The Forge Hand Operative Role is based on our Neptune Works site in Ecclesfield, and resides in the Press/GFM Bays.
The role reports to the Forge Manager.

We are looking for trainee operatives who we can train within our Press & GFM forging teams. Full, on the job training will be provided to those candidates who display a sufficient drive and good enthusiasm for the role.

We expect you to:

  • Be keen, motivated and reliable.
  • Have excellent attention to detail.
  • Be able to think on your feet and handle situations as they arise.
  • Have previous experience within a hot working environment.
  • Always be fully compliant to Health & Safety requirements – Act safely and responsibly

The ideal candidates will already:

  • Have hot working or heavy industrial experience as you will be working within a heavy industrial environment, which includes hot metal.
  • Be analytical and have previous experience with documentation such as production records, material certification and paperwork.
  • Have prior experience across a range of measurement equipment: verniers, callipers, tapes and micrometres

Desirable Skills

  • FLT B1 License (refresher training can be provided).
  • Overhead Crane certified (training can be provided).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Previous experience operating forging machinery.
